The property valuation season is winding down. It’s likely the taxable value of your property increased, but that does not necessarily mean your taxes should increase. Local government entities are in the process of establishing their budgets and proposed tax rates — the other parts of the equation that will determine the amount of your property taxes. SB 2 and HB 3 from the 2019 session made some significant changes to the budget and property tax rate setting process that have now been in effect for a couple of years. Please join us at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 28th for “An Overview of the Budgeting and Tax Rate Setting Process,” as we discuss steps you can take to begin your involvement with local government entities. We believe that an introductory knowledge of this process is critical for the taxpayer to know as local government entities begin to adopt their budgets and tax rates that directly affect the amount of property tax you will pay.

TTARA will offer 1 hour of continuing education credit with the State Bar of Texas, the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy, and the Institute for Professionals in Taxation.
