4/23/2008TTARA’s John Kennedy Testifies Before House Local Government Ways & Means CommitteeAt today’s interim hearing of the House Local Government Ways & Means Committee to take invited testimony on the committee’s broad charge to examine the system for appraising property, John Kennedy presented oral and written testimony on TTARA’s recommendations for improving the system, ranging from consolidation of appraisal districts to enhanced state oversight to alternative appeal mechanisms. In addition, at the request of Chairman Fred Hill, Kennedy reviewed the announcement sent to TTARA members 12/7/07 concerning the issues and numbers associated with the proposal to increase state sales taxes to replace local property taxes. 4/22/2008Comptroller's Office Announces Franchise Tax Filing Extension(AUSTIN) - Texas Comptroller Susan Combs announced today that businesses who are unable to meet the May 15 due date for the franchise tax will have an additional 30 days to submit their returns or file an extension without penalty. 4/3/2008TTARA’s Dale Craymer Chosen for Business Tax Advisory Committee As Texas businesses prepare to file franchise tax reports using the new margin calculation and other revisions to the tax, a panel of tax experts, legislators and business representatives has formed to analyze the revised franchise tax’s effect on the business community and the Texas economy.
